What’s Happening in Music:

Students did a wonderful job in the Veterans Day assembly. Here is a link to the slideshow. Also a little clip of the school singing One Nation. In the music class the 5th grade has been preparing for the 5th grade musical before and during school. The 4th grade is just about to start using recorders and the 3rd and 2nd grade are working on pitch
recognition through solfege.

Question of the Month:

Which Beatles band member learned to play the Sitar?

Answer: George Harrison

Music Advocacy:

"The musician is constantly adjusting decisions on tempo, tone, style, rhythm,

phrasing, and feeling - training the brain to become incredibly good at organizing

and conducting numerous activities at once. Dedicated practice of this

orchestration can have a great payoff for lifelong attentional skills, intelligence,

and an ability for self-knowledge and expression." - Ratey, John J. M.D.
